Bair's First Steps
Now that i understand how basic rigs work, i have begun playing around with animating Bair to perform a walkcycle. I added the image plane as i plan to eventually incorporate live action into my test.
My First Character Model and Rig.
I have been getting quite irritated with using the rig given to me by my university to animate a walkcycle with because i didnt understand the first thing about IK handles, curves, clusters, splines an i had never even touched the set driven key menus.
so i have therefore speant the day modeling and rigging my first character, using a muddle of tutorials and a lot of guess work. I am sooo happy with the result! not in a show-off kind of way, but in a way that i now feel fully comfytable in messing about with rigs, and having this basic understanding has made the world of difference. so here are pictures of my character "Bair" from doodle to 3Doodle.
Bair....I love this little guy!

A Day of Modeling
I had a tech training session today, and i went through the tutorial given on how to make
a human model in Maya.
When I got home, i wanted to do the exercise again, this time without instruction. I started by drawing out 2 profiles of a female figure, then scanned and modeled around them. i only used one poly as i found merging three or more together was a bit fidlely, although saying that i didnt try moulding the fingers or toes this time.

First attempt at modeling
Since we've started using Maya again at uni, i decided to have a play around with some of the basic modeling tools. I watched a few tutorials telling me to make tea cups and then had the idea of modeling something real on my desk. This model is to scale and is based on the USB stick we got from the uni when we started. When i was finished i also had a quick attempt of making a texture on Photoshop which mimicked that of the metal on the stick.

British Hairdressing Awards
Through doing the project for the British Motor Transport Awards (see previous post) I was asked to produce branding concepts for this years British Hairdressing Awards. Apparently there are two rival companies that we are competing against for this brief. The presentation was earlyer today. Fingers crossed!
Below are my initial ideas for this brief.
British Motor Transport Awards
Over Christmas my last graphic design tutor put me in touch with a client who needed an illustration for a magazine cover. It was an over-night project, so i drank a lot of coffee and got it finished before breakfast. It was received well by the client and has gone to print.
Animation and Sound
This was my submission for the first projects at uni. I used Maya to do all the modeling and animation, then added the sound using After Effects. I was happy with the project and It was recieved well by my tutors.
